When the iconic novel was published in 1925, it became the highest-grossing movie in the history of American cinema. From the book to the screen, the characters and themes have remained almost universally popular, and the fame of the book and movie led to another, very different adaptation in 1977 that was another huge hit.
This edition boasts a new restoration of the film, a new audio and a “Dedication: To My Father,” a new introduction and a whole new look.

In 2012, WarnerHome Entertainment first restored The Great Gatsby to DVD. Now, the Classic Film Series has re-released the film to Blu-ray disc in a two-disc set with a fresh transfer and a newly-restored 5.1 DTS-HD audio track. Gatsby was the first American movie to be filmed in CinemaScope and it was a huge hit when released.
The Blu-ray disc includes six new featurettes that examine the book, the film and Baz Luhrmann’s vision. "Remembering Gatsby" looks at how the team at Warner Bros. preserved Gatsby’s unique look. "Welcome to the Money Shot" delves into the film’s dazzling opening night party, and the costuming of Daisy and Tom. In "A Jazz Age New York," costume designer Catherine Martin tells of her vision of the Jazz Age. "A Gentle Breeze: A Note From the Carpenters" explores the painter and fashion illustrator Milton Carpenters’ transformation into the film’s vivid Americana scenery.
